Juni 2012 KIT - Kunst im Tunnel Mannesmannufer 1b, 40213 Düsseldorf Einladungskarte pdf (3,5 MB) >> Die Ausstellung Bilder gegen die Dunkelheit wird erstmals eine repräsentative Auswahl an Videokunstwerken aus dem Archiv des imai ans Licht bringen. Vor sechs Jahren wurde das imai in Düsseldorf gegründet, um die umfassende Videokunstsammlung der Kölner Medienagentur 235 Media aufzunehmen. Seither hat das Archiv die Werke bewahrt und mit Neuzugängen ergänzt. In Kooperation mit dem KIT wird nun in Düsseldorf ein Einblick in den beachtlichen Archivbestand des imai zu sehen sein. Mit einer großen Anzahl von Einkanalvideos, die den Schwerpunkt des imai–Archivs bilden, und mehreren Installationen lässt sich ein Überblick über die Entwicklung der Videokunst von der Frühzeit in den 1970er Jahren bis in die Gegenwart gewinnen. Ausgehend von den Videopionieren, die sich in den 1970er und 1980er Jahren besonders im Rheinland formiert haben, wird die Ausstellung zu jungen Positionen dieser technologiebasierten Kunstform überleiten. Kuratorinnen: Dr. Renate Buschmann und Gertrud Peters Folgende KünstlerInnen werden mit Werken vertreten sein: Julián Álvarez Garcia, George Barber, Dara Birnbaum, Claus Blume, Klaus vom Bruch, Robert Cahen, Peter Callas, Douglas Davis, Sachli Golkar, Bettina Gruber, Nate Harrison, Freya Hattenberger, Oliver Held, Gary Hill, Patricia Hoeppe, Nan Hoover, Hörner/Antlfinger, Gudrun Kemsa, Sunjha Kim, Kevin Pawel Matweew, Franziska Megert, Norbert Meissner, Chris Newman, Michalis Nicolaides, Marcel Odenbach, Raskin (Rotraud Pape, Andreas Coerper), Ulrike Rosenbach, Lydia Schouten, Bill Seaman, Peter Simon, Steina, Myriam Thyes, Woody Vasulka, Maria Vedder, Jan Verbeek. Alle in der Ausstellung präsentierten Werke können über das Vertriebsprogramm des imai ausgeliehen bzw. angekauft werden. Weitere Werke der KünstlerInnen sind im imai – Onlinekatalog einsehbar. Video art from the archive of imai – inter media art institute Opening: Friday, 27th April 2012, 8 pm Exhibition duration: 28th April to 24th June 2012 KIT – Kunst im Tunnel Mannesmannufer 1b, 40213 Düsseldorf Flyer invitation KIT pdf (3.5 MB) >> The exhibition Images against Darkness (Bilder gegen die Dunkelheit) will highlight a representative selection of video art works from the imai archive for the first time. imai was founded six years ago in Düsseldorf to take on the extensive video art collection of the Cologne media art agency 235 Media. Since then the works have been stored in the archive and new works have been added. In cooperation with KIT there will now be an opportunity in Düsseldorf to get a look at these impressive works contained in the archive. A large number of single-channel videos which form the main part of the imai archive and a number of installations give an overview of the development of video art ranging from the pioneering early seventies until today.
